Acorn Co-operative Learning Alliance

‘Excellence for all through collaboration’

On the 1st September 2014  we joined with other local schools to form the Acorn Co-operative Learning Alliance. Along with Bressingham Primary School we are the founding members of the co-operative trust. Banham Primary School, Bunwell Primary School, Carleton Rode Primary School, Chapel Green School, Old Buckenham Primary School, Old Buckenham High School and Thompson Primary School are all partner members of the trust.  The Co-operative College and Norfolk County Council are also partners in the Trust.

This means that we changed our legal status from a 'community school' to a 'foundation school'.  We remain part of the local authority family of schools but will be supported by the trust to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children and staff. The aim of the trust is to achieve 'Excellence for all through collaboration'.

January 2026

Over recent years the majority of the schools within the Alliance have joined multi-academy trusts and as a consequence, the Alliance has ceased to support school improvement through collaboration. The Governing Body have consulted with stakeholders to remove the Acorn Co-operative Alliance as its foundation and to become a foundation school without a foundation.

Please read the statutory notice below for more information, responses to the propposal can be sent in writing to the Governing Body via the school address or via email (head@eastharling.norfolk.sch.uk)

Statutory Notice to remove The Acorn Co-operative Learning Alliance as the foundation of the school.

The Governing Body will reconsider any representations received by midnight on the 20th February 2026.
